As our self catering holiday accommodations, The Granero and The Villa, are ideally located at the heart of Andalucia, Ronda is an ideal destination for a day trip. The town of Ronda in the of the Malaga Province, rests upon a large outcrop of rocks and is famous form being the birthplace of modern bullfighting. The bullring, Plaza de Toros – built in 1784, is the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain and is acknowledged as being the location at which much of the foundations and etiquette of bullfighting was born. Nowadays the bullring, which occasionally hosts bullfights, has a museum dedicated to bullfighting and visitors have the chance to walk out into the bull fighting arena. The Puente Romano, the roman bridge, which is often referred to as the Puente San Miguel, towers some 120 metres above the canyon which divides the older parts from the newer parts of the town. |
