The quaint white village of Moclín is situated in the north of the Poniente Granadino (Western Granada) region of the Granada Province and is just a short drive, less than 20 minutes, from our holiday accommodations.

The small village of Moclín is the highest village within the region of Western Granada, and at an altitude of 1,107m the views from the castle ruins are simply stunning.

For guests who can not summon sufficient energy to climb the steps up to the castle you may be pleased to learn that the view from in front of the village church offers expansive views of the village, surrounding countryside all set against a back drop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

As a consequence of Moclín's strategic position, during the Muslim period Moclín was referred to as the Shield of the Kingdom of Granada and during the Spanish Civil War, the village of Moclín became a frontier between the Franco troops and the Republican troops.

Alternatively, if you simply fancy a leisurely drive out one evening, why not take the short drive to Moclín, on a Friday or Saturday evening when the village's castle and church are illuminated.
